The internet is abuzz today with stories about the 30th anniversary of the Mac and people's first experiences with Apple computers.
My memories of a Mac date to probably 1985 when my school bought what must have been an original Mac, but it wasn't until 1994 when I scored my first personal Mac - a PowerBook 540c. It was my first year of grad school at Rensselaer and someone put an ad in the local Troy paper that they were selling a few Mac laptops. They must have been stolen from somewhere, but I was so hungry for my own Mac (and was trying to buy one on a TA stipend) that I was willing to overlook that.
20 years later and there's a direct line of seven Macs from that 540c to the Retina MacBook Pro I'm typing this on.
